Forehead Lift (brow lift)

INDICATIONS
Aging changes around the eyes and forehead including eyebrow hooding and sagging, with prominent forehead, and frown lines.

SURGERY
The brow lift procedure can be performed endoscopically using 3-5 small incisions in the hairline or using a more traditional open approach with an incision across the scalp. This operation is frequently combined with a blepharoplasty, C02 laser resurfacing, and/or facelift. Time 2-3hrs.

LOCATION
Surgery is performed with a local anesthetic and sedation in the office or general anesthetic at the hospital. Usually done as an outpatient.

TRADE OFFS
There is mild, temporary surgical discomfort, bruising, and swelling. Scars are carefully placed and are rarely a concern. Rarely there is temporary difficulty fully closing the eyelids.

RISKS
Although uncommon, problems may include infection, bleeding, dry eyes, injury to the facial nerve resulting in muscle weakness of the forehead and asymmetry. Additional surgery although rare is sometimes required when there is an area of hair loss.

RECOVERY
Our patients are instructed in the use of cool compresses for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Most patients return to work 7-10 days following surgery and return to their normal exercise routine at 3-4 weeks. Recovery is quicker when an endoscopic approach is utilized.
